Oh, the Places We’ll Go

Next time you see us it might be in your local grocery store instead of the job site. We’ve decided it’s not enough to hop on a plane to come visit. We want to be a member of the community.

As part of our growth strategy, you will now find SSOE offices in St. Paul, Minnesota; Midland, Michigan; Washington DC; and Shanghai, China (see story on page 2). Our St. Paul office, led by David Smith, P.E., is a prime example of how our growth promotes your growth. One of the clients this office serves is Freedom Fuels in nearby Mason City, Iowa. Due to growing energy costs and environmental concerns, this emerging business in the biodiesel market stands at the brink of tremendous growth. Our creative project approach, including partners who help with financing and experts who help with process development, are making this investor’s dream a reality (read more on page 3). In addition, St. Paul serves local clients like Northshore Mining, a client and industry experiencing tremendous growth due to China’s increasing demand for iron (see page 2 for how we’re helping mining companies grow their operations safely).

Our Midland, Michigan office, led by Cliff Reese, is another strategic addition opened in February. This office is focused on providing hands-on customer service to specific clients in the area as well as growing the depth and expertise of our chemical and energy resources. The closer we are to our clients the more quickly we can begin to understand their business and become a valuable part of the team.

With growth throughout the U.S. it’s only fitting we add an office where national decisions are made. The Washington, DC office was opened under the leadership of Eduard Royzman, P.E., who has more than 30 years of international experience managing complex engineering systems for university, laboratory, health care and pharmaceutical clients. Ed brings with him an impressive list of world-class partners whose expertise can now be made available to our clients. In addition, his experience with cutting edge facilities, processes and technologies can now be tapped into on every project SSOE completes—including yours. Since opening in June 2005, SSOE’s Washington, DC office is providing the know-how for high-tech public projects for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as well as the University of South Carolina’s forward-thinking fuel cell research lab.
