SSOE has developed expertise in executing conceptual or feasibility phase projects which establish the basis for our clients to prioritize their capital investments at relatively low levels of project definition. Being able to consistently deliver this type of project successfully demands the strategic use of new technologies for reality capture, standardized tools and methods to remain cost-effective, and highly experienced staff capable of conceptualizing a complete project based on very limited information.
Projects selected to proceed are further developed using a phased approach with approval gates at pre-defined levels of engineering definition and corresponding cost estimate accuracy. This type of stage-gated approach is often referred to as the front-end loading (FEL) or front-end engineering design (FEED) method. Our objective is to provide clients with a structured approach for funding projects with a higher likelihood of success based on appropriate levels of engineering definition and mitigation of identified risks.
