SSOE Group is looking for a student to join our Project Controls Department at our award-winning Toledo office. Candidate should possess the desire to work under EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) resources for our organization while providing support to our design and engineering staff. The co-op assignments are structured so that the candidates develop the ability with each new work term to accept work assignments with increasing level of complexity and self-reliance.

SSOE internships provide opportunities for students to gain experience in their field, determine if they have an interest in a particular career, and create a network of contacts.

This opportunity is considered integral to the Construction Team and will be provided tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. Under guidance of the Construction Execution Team, the students will be assigned to teams associated with ongoing EPC or EPCM programs.

Although SSOE makes no guarantee of employment, it is our goal to have our Interns fully capable of stepping into a full-time rotation program to prepare them for a project management or construction position within our organization by the end of the program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned tasks under close supervision of Department Manager or designee. Receives specific and detailed instructions.
  • Learns and uses department standards, methods and procedures (ToPPS – SSOE’s Tool, Policy and Process System)
  • Maintain ISO compliance with project control documentation and assist in mapping of new business processes.
  • Create flow charts, documentation, and spreadsheets in support of staff projects.
  • Preparation, modification, and track the project documentation.
  • Provide project management support assistance for quality issues as required.

Minimum Education and Experience

College Sophomore / ENTRY / 0-2
OSHA 10/30-hour Construction Certificate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both internal and external to SSOE Group.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess excellent follow up and follow thru skills
  • Working knowledge of computer application software-desired. Strong computer skills and accuracy.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to work overtime when needed.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an ABET accredited civil or construction management program.
