Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interface directly with clients to scope and estimate projects.
  • Lead designers and junior engineers to develop drawings, estimates, reports, and analysis.
  • Manage project process discipline budgets and schedules.
  • May supervise / coach and coordinate the work of less experienced engineers and designers. Also responsible for checking a portion or all of the drawings completed on the project within the discipline.
  • Assist with maintaining department standards.
  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard accepted methods.
  • Performs most assignments with instructions as to general results expected, exercises sound judgment to resolve problems, may receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems, and solicits the approval of the department manager or project engineer for proposed design solutions.
  • May devise new approaches and solutions to challenges and communicates changes to the team.
  • Develops engineering concepts and presentations.
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines.
  • Keeps current on new design methods and ideas.
  • Travel required.

Position Type: Regular Full-Time
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree / DIRECT / 8+ OSHA 10/30-hour Construction Certificate preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project team.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to provide solutions and add value for clients.
  • Knowledge of dry material handling and process piping.
  • 2 or more years of experience with SSOE as an Engineer 3 or the same educational, certification, and registration requirements as above with 5 or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering that qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, required. PE or PE-tracked preferred.

SSOE is seeking a talented Sr. Food Process Engineer to lead projects from inception to detailed design with project engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment. Ideal candidates will be able to effectively communicate with clients and other project disciplines, provide solutions to challenges while adding value for client, process budgets, and maintain department standards.
