Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Wrapping your arms around all the current types and forums for internal communication at SSOE and developing a strategic plan and communications calendar / schedule to improve effectiveness and efficiency. We measure effectiveness as 1) engaging our employees—making them feel like they’re a part of something bigger 2) helping them gain the knowledge they need to accurately and successfully represent the full range of services SSOE offers to their clients and 3) educating them on issues that impact.
  • Executing the plan. You’ll work within the marketing communications group, but will be an internal communications staff of one—if you enjoy a range of strategic planning and getting down into the details of executing—this is the job for you.
  • It’s necessary that you be an excellent project manager, planner, interviewer, and writer.
  • Today, we use MailChimp as a platform to manage internal email communications and are looking to develop an internal communications app— if you bring those skills, that’s great. If you don’t, we can train you if you have the other skills we’re looking for and are a good fit within our team.
  • This position exists in our marketing group because a lot of the communications we do serve to educate staff and enable them to better sell our services. Our services can be complex, so there is no expectation you understand them coming into the job—but you absolutely have to be able to ask questions and wrap your head around new things quickly to get the job done.

  • Your role will include assisting upper management with presentations including messaging and PowerPoint.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree / DIRECT / 3-5
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Superior project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent writing / editing / proofreading skills.
  • Software:
    • InDesign: Intermediate preferred but not required. Involves layout of documents using templates with the ability to follow graphic standards, however graphic design assistance is available for more complex projects.
    • Photoshop: Intermediate. Mostly editing images, creating header images for email communications combining stock or employee photography and text.
    • Word, PowerPoint, Excel: Intermediate to advanced. Must be able to format, develop a PPT presentation efficiently, ideally would understand things like pivot tables in Excel, but at a minimum should understand basic formulas.

Position Summary
Our marketing communications group is looking for someone who’s ready to be a part of shaping the future of internal communications at SSOE. This function exists currently in our marketing department, but the role has grown significantly and we’ve reached a point that we’re ready to let a single individual own the strategy, plan, and execution.
