Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Draft and detail complex steel structure 2D elements and 3D models according to customer requirements and standard practices based on contract documents.
  • Collect information from all available sources in order to prepare accurate and complete detail drawings.
  • Has the ability to look at all design items given, figure out what is missing and write RFIs to attain the needed information to finish project details.
  • Verify dimension correctness and/or identify any interference between elements.
  • Provide technical support including teaching methods and procedures to less experienced detailers.
  • May be required to visit the project site to verify existing field conditions and perform design and provide on-site connection and erection support.
  • May travel to other SSOE facilities for coordination purposes or to provide training.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree / DIRECT / 6-8
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Draftsman / Designer certification (Diploma / ITI – Civil)
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience detailing steel structures and connections using SDS / 2 software.
  • Must have knowledge of building codes, AISC codes and Standard Practices, OSHA, and IBC standards.
  • Understand AWS welding procedures and be aware of standard fab shop and erection practices.
  • Good organizational skills as well as excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to use software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Have the ability to complete a project from start to finish.

SSOE is looking to hire a structural steel detailer to join our growing team. You will be supporting global projects and providing advanced structural steel detailing experience on a variety of shop and fabrication drawings.
