Structural Engineer (Entry-Level) – Portland, OR

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Project engineering write and edit 15 kV to 345 kV equipment specification interface with client to develop scope of work and review project progress.
  • Coordinate with project team members and other disciplines to develop innovative solutions.
  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard accepted methods.
  • Performs detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope.
  • May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered and communicates changes to the team.
  • May supervise and coordinate the work of less experienced engineers and designers and be responsible for checking a portion or all of the drawings completed on the project within the discipline.
  • May take part in client contact and business development activities.
  • Meets with client to define project scope, present project progress, and assures client satisfaction
  • May write portions or all of the specifications and assist in or prepare total cost estimates.
  • Performs design work on CAD.

Position Type: Regular Full-Time
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree OSHA 10/30-hour Construction Certificate preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with power system calculations.
  • Exposure to power plants, substations, transmission lines, distribution lines, and large heavy industrial electrical systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate design team activities.
  • Regional travel is required.
  • Be knowledgeable in the areas of relay programming, control schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required. PE or PE-tracked preferred.

Position Summary Ideal candidate is experienced in power systems, protective relaying, and grounding systems in substations, power plants, and industrial facilities. Design of transmission and distribution lines is a plus.
