SSOE and Autodesk Host First Reality Capture Summit

TOLEDO, Ohio, May 26, 2016 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm along with Autodesk, Inc., an American multinational software corporation that makes software for the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, and entertainment industries, hosted their first Reality Capture Summit on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at SSOE’s world headquarters.

The goal of the Reality Capture Summit was to review and discuss current best practices of reality capture in the AEC industry. SSOE staff, partner organizations including Autodesk, GEM, Inc., Schoel Engineering, Toyota, Walbridge, and laser scanning vendors, FARO Technologies, Lecia Geosystems, Nederveld, and Real Earth, Inc. were in attendance. Attendees gained insight of the future of reality capture in an open forum to influence software and hardware vendors based on their industry and organizations. Topics included a discussion on current barriers to reality capture adoption, best practices for planning and data capture, as well as future impact on business, and more.

Mark LaBell was the mastermind behind this year’s Reality Capture Summit. He has a passion and unparalleled dedication for the practice of VDC methods in the AEC industry. He has served as a user and customization expert in 3D BIM/CAD software for over 15 years and provides support and training for users to educate individuals on how to maintain a sound and practical user environment. Always looking for the next best thing, whether process improvement, software, or hardware when it comes to practical design and user experience, LaBell has learned that there is never a “one-sized fits all” approach no matter what the client requirements dictate. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing from Eastern Michigan University and works in SSOE’s Toledo, Ohio office.
