Laboratory Design Magazine Article: “A Lab Focused on Seeking Justice”

Craig Pickerel, Project Manager and Architect at SSOE Group, was recently published in Laboratory Design Magazine. The article highlights the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) lab at BGSU for which SSOE provided all design services. Designed for adaptability, the 28,330 SF one-of-a-kind facility offers various specialized services to Ohio’s criminal justice agencies, while serving as a valuable resource for BGSU criminal justice and forensic science students. SSOE’s team was challenged to create accessible, changeable, unit-specific spaces that invite collaboration. The result is a new and improved testing facility, methodically designed with expansion, sustainability, and local materials in mind — delivered through a remarkably lean process that saved the client more than $900,000 in contingencies. SSOE Hires New Senior Electrical Engineer

TOLEDO, Ohio, October 6, 2015 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm, announced the appointment of Joseph Hulderman as Senior Electrical Engineer. He is responsible for the design and coordination of high voltage substations, transmission circuits, and distribution circuits for municipal, industrial, and investor owned utility clients. Joe specializes in substation design up to 345 kV, transmission and distribution line design, short circuit, load flow, and relay coordination systems. Laboratory Design Magazine Article: “Univ. of South Carolina, Horizon I Research Facility, Columbia, S.C.”

SSOE was featured in this Laboratory Design Magazine article highlighting a recently constructed five-story, 125,000 SF science and technology facility for which SSOE provided mechanical and electrical services, in addition to fire protection construction documents. This facility, referred to as Horizon I, supports programs in engineering, technology, scientific research, and industrial development of alternative energy sources—also serving to adjoin the University of South Carolina’s main campus and its “new urban ‘innovista’ research campus.
