Position Summary

BIM Technical Specialists at SSOE have entrepreneurial spirit and constantly seek out new opportunities for creativity and innovation. They work in a multi-discipline team environment and are able to prioritize and execute BIM activities with a core focus on efficiency and collaboration. The successful candidate confidently explains BIM principals, particularly using Process Piping applications, to all levels of design and construction professionals. Our trusted Specialists advise Project Managers and Design Teams on best approaches and techniques to achieve project goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, and maintain Bentley Process Piping applications and configuration files
  • Provide proactive development, guidance, and training relating to Bentley Process Piping applications
  • Provide direct support to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for project teams
  • Assist project teams with the set-up and collaboration of Bentley Process Piping models with other discipline models
  • Investigation and implementation of new design and engineering productivity tools (plug-ins, new software, etc.)
  • Participate in and lead pilot projects for the implementation of new technologies and new versions of modeling, engineering, and analysis software
  • Interact with Operations Design Teams to identify customization needs for Design applications
  • Create and maintain SSOE and CLIENT standards, templates, and model content
  • Create and maintain HOW-TO and WORKFLOW documentation as it relates to BIM/VDC best practices

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or equivalent
  • Process piping background with an emphasis in the chemical industry
  • Direct design experience in Bentley MicroStation and Bentley OpenPlant 3D required
  • Experience implementing and supporting large Bentley OpenPlant projects including project set-up and collaboration across multiple offices and teams
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills and interest in process improvements as it relates to design and construction deliverables
  • Flexible in adopting new technologies and processes
  • Comfortable presenting to internal & external groups on BIM subject manner
  • Knowledge of Laser Scanning and point cloud file manipulation and clash detection a plus
  • Written and verbal communication skills
