BIM Technical Specialist

Position Summary

A BIM Technical Specialist at SSOE has entrepreneurial spirit and constantly seeks out new opportunities for creativity and innovation. They work in a multi-discipline team environment and are able to prioritize and execute BIM activities with a core focus on efficiency and collaboration. The successful candidate confidently explains BIM principals, particularly using Autodesk Inventor, to all levels of design and construction professionals. Our trusted Specialists advise Project Managers and Design Teams on best approaches and techniques to achieve project goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, and maintain Revit application and configuration files.
  • Create and maintain SSOE and CLIENT standards, templates, and families.
  • Provide direct support to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for Revit projects.
  • Create and maintain HOW-TO and WORKFLOW documentation as it relates to BIM/VDC best practices.
  • Interact with Operations Design Teams to identify customization needs for Design applications.
  • Participate in and lead pilot projects for the implementation of new technologies and new versions of modeling, engineering, and analysis software.
  • Investigation and implementation of new design and engineering productivity tools (plug-ins, new software, etc.)

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree / DIRECT / 3-5

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills and interest in process improvements as it relates to design and construction deliverables.
  • Flexible in adopting new technologies and processes.
  • Advanced skills required in: Revit, Navisworks and ReCap.
  • Familiar with creation of Revit Families and advanced content.
  • Direct experience with Autodesk Design applications on large, multi-discipline projects.
  • Experience implementing Industry-standard BIM methods and project execution planning.
  • Knowledge of large Revit project set-up and collaboration across multiple offices; familiar with the implementation and maintenance of Revit Server.
  • Knowledge of Clash detection and 3D model coordination.
  • Knowledge of Laser Scanning and point cloud file manipulation.
  • Familiarity with Revit and interaction with energy or engineering analytical software.
  • Familiarity with industry classification systems as it applies to specifications and estimating.
  • Familiarity with the use of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) schema and 3D model translations or formats.
  • Experience in BIM modeling for quantity take-offs and estimates a plus. Experience in meta-data migration in and out of BIM applications for other uses a plus.
  • Comfortable presenting to internal & external groups on BIM subject manner.
