Position Summary

As an Electrical Engineer, you are at a pivotal point in your career. The ultimate goal for our engineers to hold an active, vital role in our project delivery designs. You will partner with the manager to determine the direction in the company you want follow. Many of our upper level and senior engineers/leaders in the company started as a co-op/intern or joined us right out of college, and navigated themselves to where they are today.

Many professionals at SSOE are held in high regard in their discipline and/or field. They can be seen in industry publications such as ENR, Processing Magazine, BD+C Magazine, Security Systems News (just to name a few), present at Autodesk University or for affiliation groups or professional societies and more.

We take technology seriously at SSOE. Our VDC/BIM Group are leading experts in pushing the envelope in design/build collaborative technology and applications. Our VDC/BIM team are always looking and exploring ways to make SSOE the leader in technology and how we can leverage it better in our everyday work efficiencies. All our Engineering, Architects and Designers work in a 3D environment to develop designs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop Medium Voltage Power Distribution systems design including Substation / Switchgear / Power Distribution panels / Panel Schedules / ground fault protection
  • Develop Lighting schemes, circuiting and switching for both interior and exterior project areas
  • Actively participate in project teams as a design lead or support engineer to advance the efforts of SSOE
  • Actively participate in all internal, external or client based meetings
  • Review electrical drawings for quality presentation and overall quality control
  • Assist with the oversight and development of other Jr staff engineers and designers and new team members
  • Engineer & Design electrical scope of work within 3D (or 2D) software platform in coordination with all teams
  • Create 2D construction documents (drawings and specifications) for contractor bidding and construction and permit approval for construction

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree / DIRECT / 6-8

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Communication in both Spanish and English is essential (conversational and technical abilities)
  • Electrical Engineering Experience with Power and Lighting
  • Technical experience in electrical engineering systems: substation, switchgear, power distribution, grounding systems, multiple lighting systems
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD required
  • Development of Single Line drawings required
