We are seeking a Life Safety and Security Engineer who has industry experience and graduated from an ABET-accredited engineering program for our Advanced Technology design team.

The Life Safety and Security Engineer will interface directly with our project managers and multidisciplinary design team to provide design services for our clients in the high-tech industry.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determine, select, and specify life safety required to monitor, operate, and control life safety systems in conjunction with mechanical, process, and electrical systems.
  • Determine, select, and specify the security systems to monitor, operate, and alarm.
  • Provide input on the development of life safety and security.
  • Produce logic diagrams, system operation matrix, and wiring diagrams.
  • Develop material datasheets and panel drawings.
  • Interpret and apply codes, job procedures, standards, and specifications.
  • Interface with other design disciplines.
  • Provide field assistance as required.
  • Monitor and review on-site installation, start-up, and operation of LSS designs.
  • Perform inspections of equipment as required.
  • Specify and evaluate life safety and security systems.
  • Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of the project and / or department goals.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree / DIRECT / 6-8

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of design experience in life safety and security systems.
  • Ability to lead projects.
  • Understanding of the fires alarm, HPM and security systems, and their wiring diagrams.
  • Intermediate to excellent computer skills in Microsoft Windows XP, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Effective communication and impromptu problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow through in a self-motivated fashion.
  • Ability to work in a cost-effective, customer-focused, team-based environment.
  • Understanding and skills in assessing a customer’s requirements/needs in the field.
  • Mechanical or chemical knowledge is a plus.
