Position Summary

SSOE’s Project Construction Management Team is looking for a Project Director, to lead projects in support of our design/build clients who are expanding and building throughout the world. SSOE provides engineering and project expertise to our clients and as a Project Director, you will be responsible for total project delivery management and project leadership focusing on client success for the full life cycle of projects.

This role is open for consideration for the following office locations: Midland, MI; Birmingham, AL; Nashville, TN; Toledo, OH.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Will serve in a role supporting our clients, leading and ensuring the integrated project is being completed per the jointly agreed deliverables.
  • Provide oversight and coordination between various engineering partners and stakeholders.
  • Assure all services are meeting client’s expectations and ensuring a successful project delivery.
  • Assist client in all bidding and estimating activities, selection of construction suppliers, advising and presenting options to the client to ensure the success of the project.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the start-up process and project closeout process.
  • Responsible for the full performance of every phase of a major project or a group of small projects including capital planning, inception, design, construction, commissioning/validation, and project closeout.
  • Responsible for clarifying all areas of scope and ensures stakeholder alignment.
  • Develops an integrated aligned design and construction strategy.
  • Implements new strategies throughout the project workflow integrating them in the project execution plan.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree / DIRECT / 8+
OSHA 10/30-hour Construction Certificate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Engineering preferred or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Fifteen years experience with at least eight years in project management.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license desired.
  • PMP or CMAA certification or desired or will be required to be obtained within two years of taking the role.
  • Attentive to detail, follow-up procedures and documentation of an action.
  • Proven good facilitator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to qualify for company auto insurance required.
