Position Summary

The Construction Section Manager will be part of SSOE’s Mexico’s core leadership team.

Reporting directly to the Mexico Operations Manager, the Construction Section Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of our site team in Leon. With a staff of 10+ employees, the Construction Section Manager will play an key role in delivering quality projects to our clients, he will oversee all employees, project coordination, and quality control.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coaches, directs, coordinates, facilitates and supervises construction Project Managers, Construction Managers and Owners Representative department staff. This includes all evaluation and employee relations responsibilities: manpower planning/staffing, hiring, development and promotion.
  • Ensures the technical competency and quality of work performed by staff.
  • Assure the standardization of reports, activities, documentation, tools and value added activities that the on-site staff are offering to the client.
  • Visit, monitor, supervise and evaluate several construction sites where SSOE and the staff are performing activities at least once a month or the frequency that each project requires.
  • Develops, organizes and implements discipline and departmental standards, recordkeeping, and improvements. Responsible for establishing, monitoring and adhering to Project Year budget or otherwise taking action to make changes and adjustments as necessary to meet financials objectives. Implements strategic activities within department to achieve objectives of operations unit and corporate business
  • Supports Principal in charge customer maintenance and business development activities and assists in preparing proposals, and making presentations with relation of on-site services from SSOE Mexico
  • Verifies that each staff Construction manager and Owners representative has defined work plans for each project and monitors progress to ensure the KPI’S measures and conditions of satisfactions are met.
  • Reviews and approves project change orders prior to submitting to Operations Manager.
  • Prepares and monitors project work schedules and projected workload schedules for the construction department.
  • Provides staffing, current tool, and technical reference materials such that the on site Project Managers , Construction managers and representative on site team can meet project requirements.
  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses of department personnel to identify and prioritize training needs. Develops and implements department training program with the assistance of the Training and Development Department.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree / DIRECT / 8+
OSHA 10/30-hour Construction Certificate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Construction Management or related Engineering/Architecture field
  • 8+ years of managing large complex construction teams
  • Background in large scale industrial projects
  • Experience in personnel managment
  • Availability to relocate and travel
  • Advanced english is required
