Position Summary

SSOE is currently looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing structural design team. Projects will vary in size and will include Industrial, Manufacturing, Commercial and Institutional projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations by hand or utilizing structural analysis & design software for both new and existing building projects.
  • Review structural shop drawings and submittals.
  • Model, analyze and design complex steel and concrete structures including 2D elements and 3D models, according to customer requirements and standard practices for construction documents.
  • Collect information from all available sources in order to prepare accurate and complete designs and drawings.
  • Organize, produce and coordinate construction documents using 2D and 3D CAD/BIM software
  • Edit project specifications.
  • Visit project site to verify existing field conditions and/or provide on-site support.
  • Help write proposals and scope of work summaries.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree / DIRECT / 6-8
OSHA 10/30-hour Construction Certificate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with PE track is required.
  • Experience with analysis & design of structural steel and concrete structures of significant complexity utilizing structural analysis & design software and AutoCAD/Revit.
  • Good working knowledge of Model Building Codes as well as AISC & ACI Material Codes & other referenced standards.
  • Ability to fully utilize and leverage CAD/BIM software including AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
  • Ability to work well and be a contributor in a dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Have the ability to complete a project from start to finish.
