It must evolve from being just a “tool” that helps us do our job better or more efficiently to being part and parcel of how the job is done. This is not only critical to keeping up with the market pace, but technology has become so important to the future of building things, that we must now consider integrating our processes around the technology in order to fully optimize it.

That’s where you come in! We are looking for someone who not only understands emerging technologies and infrastructure, but can work with our executive team and across our organization to drive SSOE forward in making technology transformational within our business.

The VP, Technology is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the CEO. It is a highly visible role that has frequent collaborative interaction with leaders and employees throughout our global organization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and clear strategic direction that can integrate SSOE’s various technology stakeholders and be embraced by our entire firm.
  • Working with operations, technology, and executive teams, to translate business strategy into technology strategy supported by ROI analysis and strong project management, as well as develop BIM training plans/vision for our corporation.
  • Provides leadership to architects, engineers, construction management, and technology professionals, advancing our use of technology to revolutionize design and delivery processes, constantly and constructively challenging the status quo.
  • Understands and develops the technology strategy, but also works hand in hand with the end-users for effective implementation.
  • Has a familiarity with current software challenges between Revit and other platforms and has demonstrated the ability to develop effective workarounds.
  • Works across multiple intersecting operations and functions within the firm to implement systems and best practices that balance the need for enterprise consistency with the nuances of particular clients and markets.
  • Understanding both our clients’ and our operational needs across the global firm, and leads effective change management to drive innovation, integration, efficiency, and results.
  • Identifies and attracts top talent, mentors and develops internal talent, and leverages outside consulting relationships and experience.
  • Ensures operability and performance of existing technology and operating systems, and reduces the risk of technological breaches through sound policy, practice and audit procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree / DIRECT / 8+

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business or related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a senior leader within a professional services organization (AEC industry preferred) and focusing on technology
  • Current Knowledge of industry trends and technology with demonstrated network
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a team of professionals to meet the strategic business objectives of the firm.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing budgets.
  • In depth knowledge of SSOE’s prevailing design software — Revit.
  • Collaborative approach utilizing strong relationship management skills that enables engagement with peers, direct and indirect reports.
  • Proven track record of building relationships with vendors/suppliers and negotiating pricing contracts.
  • Persuasive communicator with demonstrated written, oral, and presentation skills.
