When the U.S. Space and Rocket Center decided to display the Saturn V rocket, they enlisted SSOE to provide the mechanical-electrical-plumbing (MEP) and fire protection for the facility. SSOE also provided wet sprinkler protection throughout the facility with seismic bracing of all piping.
This 56,000 SF single story structure houses and displays one of the three remaining Saturn V rockets, the same rockets used by Apollo 11 to reach the moon in 1969. The “Rocket Garage” has glass on the east and north facades, allowing the rocket to be visible from the adjacent interstate I-565.
