Building A Connection

The proposed laboratory building is situated to connect to the existing science building via a covered walkway and expand the common courtyard area shared with the Clendenin Computer Science Building (also designed by SSOE). The exterior materials of the building are to include brick and stone veneer.

Proposed Building Program

The building program includes 10 teaching labs for chemistry and biology, seven student project labs, and 21 faculty offices. A large public lobby will accommodate student computer networking stations. The design provides for a future bridge connection to the third floor of the science building. Faculty offices face west with a view of the Arboretum across Marietta Drive.

Services for the building addition included conceptual designs provided in support of a capital funding request and grant application to the National Science Foundation.
