TOLEDO, OH, January 10, 2008 – SSOE’s own Vince DiPofi, PE, Sr. Vice President will be presenting Tuesday January 15th at the Michigan Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) January meeting. Mr. DiPofi has over 25 years of technical experience and will be leading a presentation and discussion on alternative fuels and the role of biodiesel. Issues to be discussed include production and cost strategies, environmental impact, ethanol versus biodiesel and the current US energy challenge.
Mr. DiPofi has led SSOE’s entry into the emerging biofuels market. SSOE currently has numerous ethanol and biodiesel projects underway in four states. In addition, SSOE was recently awarded a patent for an innovative new process that reduces the energy and cost of producing biodiesel. He and his team are also working with The University of Toledo, and several area groups to lead the way in making Toledo a nationwide center for alternative energy production and distribution.
Mr. DiPofi is a member of the National Society of Engineers and has been a registered Professional Engineer in Michigan and Ohio since 1990. He received his Bachelor of Science from The University of Toledo in Mechanical Engineering in 1985. He was named Young Engineer of the Year in 1991 by the Toledo Society of Professional Engineers and has been in the A/E consulting industry since 1981 serving previously as engineer, project manager, and business manager. His clients, among others, include GO Ethanol, Freedom Fuels, ConAgra Foods, and Procter & Gamble.
The event will be held at the Burton Manor in Livonia, MI beginning at 4:30 with the SFPE Board of Directors meeting, followed by a social hour at 5:30. The buffet dinner will begin at 6:30 and Mr. DiPofi’s presentation will begin at 7:30.
