TOLEDO, Ohio, January 13, 2014 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm, announced today that six employees earned a professional registration or certification during the first quarter of their 2014 planning year. Attainment of professional licensure is strongly encouraged at SSOE. In fact, the company covers the expense of preparation classes and exam fees as well as providing paid time off to take the exam. As an additional incentive, once a staff member has passed an exam, they receive a recognition bonus.
Registrations
Daniel Clarke, PE and Ryan Waters, PE received their professional engineering license by successfully completing the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam. The exam measures a candidate’s academic and practical knowledge of technical engineering and candidates are eligible to take the exam after meeting statutory requirements including a minimum of four years of acceptable work experience. Clarke is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He has four and a half years of experience and works in SSOE’s Birmingham, Alabama office. Waters, based in SSOE’s Portland, Oregon office is a graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and has more than six and a half years of experience.
Brett Macht, RA, LEED AP BD+C, recently earned his architectural license. To obtain this license, Macht had to pass the Architect Registration Exam and complete the Intern Development Program (IDP). The IDP is approximately 3 years of on the job experience consisting of training units in 16 different categories. The Architect Registration Exam evaluates candidate’s knowledge, skills, and ability to provide the various services required in the practice of architecture. Macht holds a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering technology from the University of Cincinnati and is an Architect located in SSOE’s Nashville, Tennessee office with four years of experience.
Certifications
Paula Berman, ASQ CMQ / OE earned her certification as a Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence (CMQ / OE). This certification, awarded by the American Society for Quality (ASQ), signifies an individual’s commitment to quality through leading and championing process-improvement initiatives with regional or global focus in a variety of service and industrial settings. To obtain this certification, Berman had to pass a written examination and have 10 years of on-the-job experience in one or more areas of the CMQ / OE body of knowledge. Berman received her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and master’s degree in physical science from the University of Houston. She is a Quality Manager in SSOE’s Portland, Oregon office and has more than 25 years of experience.
Anthony Paupert recently earned his certification as a Revit Certified Professional from Autodesk University. In order to obtain this certification, Paupert passed a written / hands-on examination to demonstrate his knowledge and expertise with Revit Architecture 2014. In addition, he completed more than 400 hours of hands-on application with the platform. This certification validates that the individual possesses advanced skills and the ability to solve complex workflow and design challenges. Paupert is a BIM / CAD Technical Specialist in SSOE’s Troy, Michigan office and has more than 18 years of experience.
Zach Platsis, PMP, CEM earned his certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP). This certification, awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI), indicates that the individual possesses the knowledge and skill necessary to lead and direct project teams, and deliver project results within the constraints of schedule, budget, and resources. Platsis is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in naval architecture and marine engineering. In addition, he holds a certificate in alternate energy technology from Wayne State University and serves as an energy consultant with 15 years of experience in SSOE’s Toledo, Ohio office.
