TOLEDO, Ohio, October 13, 2010 — SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an international engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm, announced today it has been ranked the second largest industrial and manufacturing green design firm in the United States by Engineering News Record (ENR), the industry’s premier news publication. The ranking took into account revenue for design services generated from projects that have been registered with or certified by a third-party organization—such as the U.S. Green Building Council, Green Building Initiative, and Green Advantage. These organizations set standards for measuring a facility’s environmental impact, energy efficiency, or carbon footprint.
Tony Damon, CEO states, “This ranking along with our ranking as the second largest solar generation design firm is reflective of our strong corporate vision to be a role model for support of environmental sustainability.”
In 2008, SSOE created a sustainable and renewable solutions (SRS) group that is solely dedicated to helping clients implement strategies that minimize energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint. As a result of the SRS group and other efforts such as increasing the number of LEED accredited professional on staff, SSOE has been able to assist Toyota, the United Way, and several other clients in achieving LEED certification. In addition, they currently have over $1 billion in LEED designated construction underway.
This ranking was published in the 2010 Engineering News Record (ENR) Top 100 Green Design Firms rankings. The rankings provide market analysis and rankings of the largest U.S.-based architectural and engineering firms based on revenue for design services performed in 2009.
