SSOE Group’s David Johnson Recently Elected as AIA Toledo’s Associate Director

TOLEDO, Ohio, April 22, 2020 SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global project delivery firm for architecture, engineering, and construction management, is proud to announce the recent election of David Johnson as the new Associate Director of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Toledo Chapter. AIA Toledo advocates for the value of architecture and gives architects the resources they need to do their best work.

David Johnson, AIA, NCARB, PE, is an architect and mechanical engineer with SSOE’s Automotive & Manufacturing Facilities Strategic Business Unit (SBU). His responsibilities include leading and assisting in the design of building HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems as well as architectural design. David also functions as a discipline technology leader in BIM / CAD modeling efforts using Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and ReCap software. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Master of Architecture and from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. David is a registered architect and professional engineer in the state of Ohio.

In addition to his position with SSOE, David plays a critical role within the AIA Toledo Chapter. His responsibilities include organizing events centered on networking, skill advancement, and credential certifications for all AIA Associates, Architects who have been licensed less than 10 years, and any potential AIA members that fall into one of the aforementioned two groups. Events include construction tours, Architect Registration Exam (ARE) Prep Seminars, social events, and skill-focused seminars, and workshops. Additionally, David serves as the contact for firms that are hiring and for emerging professionals looking for employment and is tasked with informing K-12 students on the roles and responsibilities of architects to help promote the profession.

SSOE has two additional employees who are actively involved with the AIA. Architect and Senior Associate Robert Siebenaller, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, is the AIA Ohio Director and Heather Judge, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Associate and Section Manager for SSOE’s Healthcare, Commercial, and Education SBU is the AIA Ohio Alternate.

The American Institute of Architects is a professional membership organization serving architects in the United States. Members must be registered architects or associate members working toward registration. Related professions may join as Allied Partners. Currently, there are more than 95,000 members throughout the United States. AIA Toledo was formed in 1914 and has over 160 members, including AIA, Associate, Emeritus, and professional Allied Partner members.
