Downtown Convention Center
Located in the growing Entertainment District of the Columbia region’s historic Congaree Vista, the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, South Carolina’s only downtown convention center, is a two-story, 135,000 square foot facility that is home to the Columbia Metropolitan Visitors Center, an 18,000 square foot ballroom, 75,000 square foot exhibition hall, and numerous meeting spaces.
Historic Vista Location
Designed to complement the existing Vista area design vernacular, the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center pulls together the area’s neighboring arts and entertainment venues, serving as the main focal point for large and small events.
Unique Design Elements
Working in concert with tvsdesign, SSOE used brick facades and large expanses of glass to create a more modern, high-tech facility equipped with the latest A/V and wireless technology. Future developments include a large-scale corporate hotel, alumni center, and a small hotel-based inn.
