ProMedica Headquarters – Steam Plant Project Receives ENR’s Midwest 2018 “Best Projects” Award and Honorable Mention in BD+C’s 2018 Reconstruction Award

TOLEDO, Ohio, January 8, 2019 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global project delivery firm for architecture, engineering, and construction management, was recently recognized, along with their project team members HKS Architects, Rudolph Libbe Group, GEM Inc., Mannik & Smith Group, and Accel Fire Systems, with a “Best Projects” Award from Engineering-News Record (ENR) Midwest and Honorable Mention from Building Design + Construction’s (BD+C) 2018 Reconstruction Award for the ProMedica Headquarters – Steam Plant Project located in downtown Toledo, Ohio. ProMedica Health System is a locally owned non-profit healthcare organization serving Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

SSOE was chosen to provide full mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology, and fire protection (MEPT / FP) design services for this unique renovation project. Their experts carefully evaluated the existing buildings and the historic aspect of each building that needed to be maintained, and provided detailed engineering design for the HVAC and plumbing systems, the data / fire / security systems, the fire suppression systems, and the electrical system, including site lighting.

Completed in 2017, the renovated building now houses not only ProMedica’s new headquarters with office spaces, but also a new YMCA on the basement level, and an upscale restaurant on the lobby level. SSOE was honored to be a part of this local project that promotes economic growth and urban revitalization since their global headquarters is also located in downtown Toledo.

ENR Midwest’s annual “Best Projects” awards recognize the best construction and design efforts in the Midwest. This year, an independent panel of judges reviewed 106 projects, one of the strongest fields of innovative construction achievements they’ve ever had.
