BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, October 2, 2020 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global project delivery firm for architecture, engineering, and construction management, is proud to announce that one of their projects has recently been recognized as a Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) Award recipient. The Children’s Hospital of Alabama’s Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit Expansion project won the BBJ’s Building Birmingham 2020 Award.

Working with Poole & Company and Doster Construction Company, SSOE provided electrical (power and lighting), fire alarm, and technology systems engineering for the Children’s Hospital of Alabama’s new 10,000 SF Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit expansion project. This project was a result of the hospital’s long-term goal of relocating this particular unit in order to have all of the hospital’s Behavioral Health services on one floor. The project includes a large open day space immediately adjacent to ten inpatient rooms (one ADA compliant), one small day space dining area, a nourishment room, a medication distribution room, a laundry room, a secure nurses desk, two exam rooms, a sensory room with specialized audiovisual technology and color-changing RGB lighting, and consulting space. All-day spaces included tunable white LED luminaires in the ceiling, which is beneficial to the patient’s overall behavioral health.
