SSOE Group to Host Distracted Driver Simulator
TOLEDO, Ohio, March 28, 2012 – SSOE along with the Safety Council of Northwest Ohio, encourage employees, their family members, and other invited guests to test their ability to drive while distracted or impaired in the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT’s) Distracted Driver Simulator. This event will be held at SSOE’s downtown Toledo headquarters in hopes of raising awareness about the consequences of distracted driving. On Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, SSOE opens their doors for a community safety event where guests will have the opportunity to take a spin in ODOT’s new Distracted Driver Simulator and will be encouraged to “Take the Pledge” to resist all  cell phone activity while driving. SSOE / Lathrop Sponsored “Education Challenge Matching Grant” Increases Donations to Toledo United Way Designated for Education by 50%
Toledo, Ohio, March 20, 2012 — SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an international engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm, announced the results of the 2011 “United Way of Greater Toledo Education Grant.” Last summer, The Lathrop Company and SSOE sponsored this new initiative that matches donations from any source over $100 designated toward education – up to $50,000. The goal was to inspire giving toward education and ensure students are ready for a career after graduation. Overall, the matching grant resulted in $615,000 in giving designated toward education, a 50% increase over 2010. “United Way gifts designated to education are essential to helping advance our community,” said Greg Braylock, Jr., United Way of Greater Toledo’s education director. “These dollars are making a huge difference for our kids and the future of our community by helping support investments like Schools as Community Hubs, Social and Emotional Learning, Graduation Coaches, and other programs across the community providing valuable supports for our children. The ABC awards seek to recognize the nation’s most innovative and high quality construction projects and safety programs. The winning project, developed by real estate investor, Health Care REIT, was delivered to the client ahead of schedule and below budget -- resulting in a 52,000 SF building which was awarded LEED® Silver certification in April 2011. Sustainable features included the use of 92% recycled structural steel, a patient healing garden, separate public and staff places of respite, and strategies focused on recycling, water use reduction, thermal comfort, indoor and outdoor pollution control, and environmentally friendly low mercury lamp lighting. SSOE Group to Host High School Students during 2012 “Engineer for a Day” Program

SSOE Group to Host High School Students during 2012 “Engineer for a Day” Program
TOLEDO, Ohio, February 20, 2012 – On the heels of recently released census data showing the first drop in the share of science and engineering professionals since 1950, SSOE and area firms are promoting entry into the profession by participating in National Engineers Week. Approximately 30 students from three area high schools will get hands-on experience from a team of engineers when they spend part of their day at SSOE’s Toledo headquarters for the “Engineer for a Day” program. SSOE has been a part of the Toledo community for over 60 years and has grown to be the largest engineering and architectural firm in the region. The “Engineer for a Day” program is a part of the agenda for the 2012 Toledo Engineer Week and will be held on February 22, 2012 from 1:00 until 3:30 PM. Students will attend a luncheon at The University of Toledo College of Engineering before meeting at SSOE.
